
RimWorld Sappers Avoiding Unpowered Turrets in RimWorld 1.1 - Do Turrets Have to Be Powered?
The recent RimWorld update (RimWorld 1.1 version 1.1.2654) sparked rumour of unpowered turrets no longer deterring sappers. Is it true?

For those who don't know, sappers in RimWorld spawn and target a bedroom. Sappers take a generally direct route to the bedroom, mining or blowing their way through walls to get there. Sappers do, however, avoid walls within line-of-sight of a turret!
A long time ago a turret watching a wall had to be powered on to deter sappers, but that meant a player could use the "reconnect" order on the turret to temporarily unpower it and wait for the sappers to enter range before reconnecting it back on. This led to incredibly strong defensive turret rooms and resulted in turrets deterring sappers all the time always, regardless of power.
Supposedly a recent update to RimWorld 1.1 (RimWorld 1.1.2654) undid this chance, once again requiring turrets to be powered to deter sappers. If it's true, that means the turret reconnect room is back. If not, then where did this rumour come from?
