Riot's "Project L" Not Releasing in 2021, Saebyeolbe Cancelled by Chinese OW Teams, Bill Maher Sucks
Riot’s long awaited fighting game called Project L won’t be available even as a BETA in 2021, but Riot is still teasing some huge news to come later this year about the possibly genre defining title. Plus, an Overwatch player is being boycotted by MULTIPLE teams for comments he made two weeks ago and is forcing his team to decide if they can even keep him on the roster. And, Bill Maher declares war on Twitch, and gamers are not pleased with the comedians take on how they spend their free time.
Riot Says Project L Won’t Be Releasing Even a Beta in 2021
It’s been coming on two years now since Project L was first announced at EVO 2019, and the fighting game community went into a quick little melt down. Poised to be the first foray of developer Riot into the fighting game genre, people were quickly scrambling to get as much info as they could about the upcoming title. Based on the world of League of Legends, you would be able to jump into a game and play as the various champions except instead of taking Jungle, you would instead be hitting combos to break other champions’ faces.
Overwatch Player Cancelled By Chinese Overwatch Teams
In April, Seoul Dynasty DPS player Saebyeolbe made comments on stream that now has him being boycotted by four Chinese Overwatch teams that may prematurely end his video gaming career. Saebyeolbe specifically made comments alluding to the lack of free speech on the Chinese streaming platform Douyu, saying that you can’t make comments specifically about the old standby controversy magnet in esports, Taiwanese independence and Hong Kong.
The comments, specifically saying that he can “thank the fans in Chinese like a good dog” and that he has to bend the knee to the Chinese government in order to make money, have prompted the Hangzhou Spark, Chengdu Hutners, Guangzhou Charge, and Shanghai Dragons all to boycott him specifically, and not the entire team of Seoul Dynasty players which could allow the Seoul to continue competing if they decide to field a different DPS player.
Bill Maher Dunks on Twitch, Says It’s a Waste of Time
Comedian (term used loosely) Bill Maher has been under fire since the airing of his show Real Time with Bill Maher aired over the weekend, seeing him make comments about Twitch and what he perceives as losers when it comes to how people spend their own free time. While Maher has had plenty of hot takes when it comes to video games in the past few years, this is another one in a series of bad takes that he seems to populate his shows whenever the word “video games” pops up. Hear the take here where Maher says that people watching other people play video games is “a waste of f**cking time.”
