Robots Are Now Performing Surgery.. IN SPACE
Welcome back to Tech Vault, today on this channel we are going to talk about “A surgery performing robot is ready for testing on the international space station + Robot successfully performs keyhole surgery on pigs without human help” A surgery-performing robot developed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and medical technology company Virtual Incision is ready to be tested aboard the International Space Station with a $100,000 grant awarded to the university from NASA.
The money will be used to prepare a surgery-performing robot for testing aboard the ISS 2024. The robot is called MIRA, which stands for “miniaturized in-vivo robotic assistant,” and can be operated remotely by a surgeon as a non-invasive way to perform medical procedures in space. Now US researchers say a robot has successfully performed keyhole surgery on pigs all on its own – without the guiding hand of a human. Furthermore, they add, the robot surgeon produced “significantly better” results than humans. Check this video out!
