Rob's Retro Rambles - Parodius (Snes)
7Once a month (or thereabouts) Chris Osborn (@Fozztexx) runs a highscore challenge based on a different retro system each time.
This month it was Snes weekend and I had a go at Axelay, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Parodius*, which I'd not played before - the weekends are a good excuse to try some games you've not played before and I ought to have tried a few more that others were playing but I was kinda hooked on this. I'd initially only scored a paltry 135,600 - https://twitter.com/GigerPunk/status/952330435379580928 but then discovered this was due to me playing the 'normal' game rather than the score challenge 'lollipop/omake' mode - this is me tackling that mode after a few (several) test goes, trying to beat @Xyphoes' top score of 1,125,800. Followed by a quick look at the 'normal' game.
Obviously, if you go to http://highscore.fozztexx.com/snesweekend.cl or are following me on Twitter (@Gigerpunk, in case you couldn't work it out) you'll probably already know whether I managed to beat @xyphoes or not. Or you could watch this video, it's entirely up to you ;)
(* or "Parodiusu Da! Shinwa kara Owarai e" to give it its full name, literally "It's Parodius! From Myth to Laughter". You can probably tell why I just call it Parodius Da in the video)
