Wow, nearly forgot to upload this one! Anyway, as the final stage in Blues' Fortress, there's that one cutscene that pops up before the boss fight... I'd just like to mention something about that. It's set to reduce your health to one, but seeing as I was doing a no damage run, this looked kiiiiiiiinda silly. I understand the idea was that you aren't expected to avoid damage your first time through the stage, and so the shot actually was meant to look like it does somewhere around 8 or 9 damage... The thing is, it's that way in the original too, only there's absolutely no way to take damage in that stage. The only hazards in that stage at all are all instant death if you get caught by them, so there's absolutely no way you'll enter the boss room with less than full health! What gives, Capcom? I know you weren't really trying with Megaman 5, but come on!

Anyway, "Dark Man" as he's actually called used to combine the powers of the previous three bosses, meaning he could move and shoot at the... well, actually, not at the same time. How lame is that? He also had the ineffective shield orbiting him, but that didn't help him much. This time, since it was evident he can take on the form of other robots, the hacker decided "hey, why not actually make something clever out of that instead of leaving it as a throwaway plot element?" And so, this boss learned a couple old tricks from the main eight bosses. It can only imitate five of them plus Protoman, and it only learned one attack from each boss, so it's nowhere near as dangerous as it could have been. You'll see each of the attacks it imitates has some component missing, such as Charge Man only walking towards you on the ground, or Napalm Man only firing two bombs instead of three. It also can imitate Gyro Man and swoop across the room towards you, but that didn't happen this time around.

The one and only attack that really poses a threat in this battle is when it shifts to Crystal Man and sets up a turret. While it's higher than usual and further out of the way, it's the only attack that lingers at all. If Dark Man never sets up a Crystal Eye, you'll never have to concentrate on more than one thing at any point in the battle. In fact, I'm pretty sure almost every time I took damage against this guy, there was one or more of those turrets shooting down at me and blocking off paths of escape. Just keep a level head and you should be fine.

Next up, we're done with this fortress! It's time to go after Dr. Wily once again!
