73Rolls-Royce traditionally stands for precision and quality. How does the bespoke and virtual world go together? We at Rolls-Royce had the unique opportunity of being the first ones within the BMW Group to make use of a new technology. With this technique we scanned the entire plant within only two days. The aim was to enable Rolls-Royce to design future structural changes more efficiently with regard to time, costs and risk minimisation. The BMW Group makes use of digitalization for developing the production network. What was it you did exactly at the Rolls-Royce plant in Goodwood? With this new technology, the real and the virtual world are moving closer together. So by scanning the entire plant we were able to measure, down to the last millimetre, the virtual changes to come in the next few years.
