You and your fellow players are brave Vikings. On a foray through the far north, you discover a black treasure chest with ancient rune stones. By skillfully placing the rune stones, you can unleash the powers of the runes. Don't be intimidated by the rituals and use them to your advantage.

Runes is a quick-to-learn placement and strategy game for 2 to 5 players. Place the stones, so that as many runes as possible match. The better the stones match, the more coins you can discard. If you place golden rune stones, you are rewarded with double number of coins. The first player to discard all their coins wins the game.

But now the rituals come into play. For each black ritual stone you place, you receive one ritual card. You can use rituals at any time, even when it's not your turn. You can use them to gain an advantage or drive your opponents to the brink of "game madness". And if you make a special effort when placing the rune stones and they form a line or circle, you will be rewarded with extra coins.
