Heretic was one of the most solid 'DooM clones' pre Duke3D/Quake.

It should be solid though, as it used DooM's engine (with some tweaks) and Raven was aided by iD software during development.

There were a few mechanics employed by Heretic that i'd not seen in any other FPS at the time (such as an inventory system etc), but other than that, Heretic is as straight to the point as DooM was..

Open the doors, reem through thousands of enemies and get to the exit.

Good times.

Second to hardest difficulty (no respawning shit please), and the first
