This is another one where I own the cartridge, but I did this playthrough in BizHawk because I don't have an autofire controller for my NES or Famicom. I'm playing the Famicom version because it's really better than the NES one. The Famicom version lets you have 3 options instead of 2. It also has a better HUD, title screen, and ending. The Famicom version also has one of the best looking cartridges I've ever seen!

I was aiming to clear this in 1 credit, but I surprised myself by clearing it without dying. The difficulty isn't bad once you memorize the parts where the environment tries to kill you (fangs, solar flares, etc.). Life Force is a classic that I used to rent almost 35 years ago. I prefer Gradius and Gradius 2, but all three are worth playing.
