I end my Sega related fighting trilogy with an episode dedicated to the question, which system has the best fighting games, the Saturn or Dreamcast?

Episode Notes:

1. All games on real hardware.

2. This episode was a mess from start to finish. My software Vegas kept crashing while trying to complete the edit. No matter what I tried, it crashed to the tune of 20+ times. I ended up having to drop the special effects back in some of the transitions and completely delete the PIP segments that showed all the KOF titles running at once for each machine. Only then did it complete.

3. I always enjoyed playing Street Fighter 3, but it was never my favorite. I never enjoyed the roster and the end boss was the cheapest bastard in fighting history. Life bar replenishment should be a no no in any fighting game.

4. The Saturn has nearly twice the fighting games of the Dreamcast. Check out segaretro.org for complete lists.

5. I am partial to 2D fighting games, and that definitely played a roll in my decision.

6. If you've never played Sokko Seitokai or Groove on Fight for the Saturn, do yourself a favor and try them.

7. My daughter helped me capture a bunch of this footage. She is becoming quite the fighting game fan.

8. I did not want to focus heavily on any one game in this epsisode. That's why I did the two Top 10 episodes, in fact. I wanted instead to look at the two libraries overall in order to get a bigger picture.

9. I purposely stayed away from the controller debate. I prefer the Saturn pad in every instance, but I know the DC pad has its fans.

10. While both these systems enjoyed incredible fighting game libraries, they both were eventually surpassed by the later systems. The PS2 had a massive library of them, and digital availability has made most of them easy to get nowadays. The Saturn still has the most that remain exclusive, however.
