The theme of episode 4 is waste. The devastated land and abandoned buildings are being invaded by demons. You advance through this wasteland with defeating demons, then you go to the warp gate at the far end. If you have not gone through the Secret Map, this is where you will encounter the evil marine for the first time in map 16.

The difficulty of the individual maps in this episode is much higher than that in Episode 3, although the lack of serious problems like those in Map 31 makes it considerably easier. The 1-on-1 with the evil marines on map 16 is difficult to finish consistently, as the area is quite small and the weapons are poor. More particularly difficult than that is map 20. You need to press all switches in four shrines to open the entrance of the central building for the exit, and cyberdemons appear from each of the shrines. These cyberdemons are free to roam the map, staying where they are, moving to the central building entrance, or coming to the other side on a whim. Their random behavior is difficult to expect and I was messed up with them. In this run, it was quite dangerous, as two cyberdemons blocked the entrance, but I managed to escape at 17:43. I was cornered on the edge of the area by cyberdemons and was also hit by a missile, but I managed to survive at 19:39. I think I could have handled it better, but the next episode is truly horrible, so I decided to leave it at that in order to devote enough time to the next episode.
