Sea of Stars Part 43: The True Ending and the Post-Post Game
The sidequests have been quested, the stones in the Moorlands are all lit up, and the true ending of Sea of Stars awaits. This description is gonna have some major spoilers (which should be expected since it's the end of the game), so look away if you don't want to see them!

And now...
Oh man, it's the end of Sea of Stars! We're starting with the man himself, Garl, making his comeback from the dead, and I still don't know how to feel about that. I love him, I've never been more attached to a character, but it was made very clear that it'd be impossible to bring him back and there was the best character death scene in any game I've ever played, but then... He's back? I feel like people are too scared of bittersweet or even just sad endings. The return was very well done, but it still takes away from the impact of the death for me and I can't fully get behind it.
And aside from that, I feel like the true ending wasn't THAT much better than the normal ending. Sure, we got a much better (but still not the best) boss fight, but there was still no closure. We don't have nearly enough information about where Aephorul and Re'shan are going, if Aephorul will experience any real consequences or if he'll just keep doing the same things in other worlds, or even what Aephorul and Re'shan's current relationship really is because they seemed pretty friendly at the end. We get some glimpses that people of this world will have some peace they didn't have before but even that isn't presented SUPER well, the game just sort of ends and I don't think it was particularly well done.
But overall, I feel like Sea of Stars is a very good game. Some things could use work, but overall it felt very fun throughout, and I'm looking forward to the DLC (which I'll be doing a series on when it's out!) and any other JRPGs that Sabotage makes!
