Strategy: First and foremost, it is advisable to have defeated all other bosses before facing Owl Father (such as the Divine Dragon and Demon of Hatred) to increase your attack power, as well as defeating all minibosses to maximize your Vitality and Posture. If your Posture is not at its maximum yet (40 Prayer Beads obtained), this fight will be more challenging. The key to victory lies in executing clean blocks until Owl Father performs a heavy attack, which you will then dodge, leaving him vulnerable to counterattacks. Maintain relentless pressure by continuously striking with your sword and staying close to him to diminish his posture. By doing so, you may also land some fortuitous hits. Attack until he deflects your strikes (indicated by an orange flash on his swords), at which point he is about to counterattack. Deflect his incoming attacks and resume your assault, repeating this pattern. Look out for two slow and vulnerable attack opportunities: his jump attack and his Ichimonji combat art following a floor sweep (indicated by a red warning sign). Attempt to maneuver him into a corner with your sword strikes. Owl will attempt to jump back but will be hindered by the wall, allowing you to land free hits as he lowers his guard. By focusing on clean counters and maintaining a relentless attack, you will land numerous fortunate strikes since his blocking abilities are occasionally subpar. When you observe him tossing black powder into the air, dodge towards his right side rather than away. The black powder signals the imminent use of firecrackers. Dodging backward will still result in being hit most of the time, while dodging forward will evade the firecrackers and position you behind Owl for 1-2 quick strikes. In the second phase, after depleting his first health bar, Owl will summon his owl spirit companion. However, this doesn't bring significant changes to the fight. He acquires two new moves: teleportation (indicated by a blue flash - simply run away when he performs it) and a fire owl attack. The fire owl attack can be easily evaded by jumping in the air when it approaches. Aside from these additions, his moveset remains the same. It is recommended to consume "Ungo's Sugar" (blue) to reduce damage taken. If you need to heal or reapply buffs, wait for him to miss an attack and position yourself behind a pillar, preventing him from immediately striking you. Additionally, save your firecrackers for the second phase. Each firecracker usage allows for 1-2 hits on Owl, significantly accelerating the pace of the second phase.
Reward: Memory: Foster Father (Attack Up), Aromatic Flower (Key Item needed for Purification Ending)
