In this video i test out Shadow of Ganymede which is a SHMUP by Phoenix games for the PS2. Suprisingly, Phoenix released more shmups on the PS2 than all other developers put together. Sadly, none of them are anything to shout aboout, although shadow of ganymede is one of the playable ones.
Thhe game is a simplistic shmup that doesnt really seem to have any structure to it. As long as you can survive long enough to collect the max power ups youl be ok, but once your dead its back to square one and that happens a lot.
Gameplay wise it reminded me of Trever Mcfur for the Atari Jaguar, and had equally long levels tat drag on for far too long to stay enjoyable. Shadow of ganymede isnt a terrible game, but its nothing to get excited over eiter. However, with a lack of ps2 shmups out there it might serve some satisfaction for a while.
