A few years ago, most people saw Shenmue as a dead franchise, and for good reason. This is why the appearance of a Shenmue 3 crowdfunding campaign in 2015 was a massive surprise. Even better is that the series main man; Yu Suzuki, was back at the helm.
Funding the game was not a problem, as it smashed numerous Kickstarter records and ended up raising over 7 million by fans that just couldn’t wait to continue Ryo's epic journey of revenge.
Shenmue has probably got the biggest cult following that I’ve even seen for a video game, so naturally, expectations were high, especially since fans have been waiting nearly 20 years. So, does Shenmue 3 stand strong as the third in the series, and was it worth the wait? Let’s take a look.
