Should you use a respirator when urban exploring?
0I sometimes get asked is it worth wearing a gas mask/respirator for urban exploration.
My answer would be not to bother with dust masks as they are next to useless, half face respirator masks such as 3M masks are ideal as they provide little intrusion into your field of view and are lightweight, I would be careful if using a full face respirator/gas mask however as many of those will limit your field of view which them cause other hazards such as tripping and falling because it will be hard to look down.
Particulate respirators would be what is needed, as P3 filters block asbestos, dust and mold spores.
