Silent Hunter IV, Dick O'Kane Method (8,600 yard attack), Part 2
No doubt you can see that the math/angles used in this technique can be applied to assaults from just about any angle, which is demonstrated quite nicely by the John P Cromwell technique which assaults at a 45 degree angle instead of a 90 degree angle. This most recent addition to my techniques has opened up my abilities, and given me the courage to attack convoys. From outside of their range. And diving as deep as I can before my torpedoes even hit. I'm a great coward.
The attack method used in this video, (The Dick O'Kane Method from Subsim.com) I learned from Rockin Robbins, (http://www.youtube.com/user/RockinRobbins13) and practiced with at greater ranges. If you are interested in other tactics, I encourage you to check either his channel or subsim.com (Specifically the Sub Skipper's Bag of Tricks thread located here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146795).
I measured after the video was completed, and I was at about 8,600 yards out from the target, if I recall correctly. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave them below.
