"Sky island" (Hard Demon) by IceKeyHammer | Geometry Dash
I eventually want to unlock all in game achievements, and one of those is to claim the reward on a ton of rated lists. Some of the recent ones are pretty difficult, so I'm just doing as many levels from them as I feel comfortable. Thanks to the fanmade "Sky Gauntlet" list by @Hypno_74 I came across one of my new favorite memory levels ever. This level takes a very simple yet endlessly creative concept and excels at it. They have created an enormous, jagged island of play with many different routes, however only one is possible with each of the gamemodes. This same island is repeated 6 times in succession, but you go through it in a different gamemode each time and get an entirely different experience. It's not easy to pull something like this off and have it not feel repetitive/unfairly balanced, but IceKeyHammer absolutely nailed it here. To keep things interesting even though the level is the same speed with repeated visuals the whole way through, a fresh coat of environmental paint is thrown on at each gamemode change to go along with the song. You start out in a foggy yet open sky, jumping along as birds fly past you. Then, things start to ramp up as the fog subsides and the sunlight shines toward you. As we reach the drop, the adrenaline starts pumping as you fall out of your trusty hot air balloon, and end up in a beautiful windy fall day. Ship is absolutely the perfect pick here, as it is so freeing to fly all around this island as the flowers drift past you in the open air. Things take a turn right after, and you have to carefully trek your way through a snowy blizzard. Two different takes on tension building, and this one is much more treacherous which is perfect for being farther. You then make your way into a rainy forest to go along with the song getting more trickily, and the spider being the perfect gamemode for uncouth exploration. To finish things off, what better way than to make it into the starry night sky while weaving through the tightest gaps so far. I'm surprised I haven't seen something like this before and I absolutely love how it was executed. Such a wonderful concept and so much fun to travel through. Highly recommend!
