Motivation: I believe growing the VR market will require more content that's not game based. While I've enjoyed many shooters and puzzled based games myself, not everyone wants their entertainment served up with doses of high adrenaline combat or demoralizing or stressful tests of skill. So I'm experimenting with more "experience" VR where the environment is the star of the show. I want to build worlds I would like to explore myself; that take advantage of the "wow" factor VR can produce. In addition to encouraging free exploration, I also try to incorporate some challenge elements to increase engagement with the environment.
Description: Sky Mesa is a fantasy recreational environment suspended in the sky. It's an open world with massive rock formations, distant mountains on the horizon and clouds below. You can climb cliffs and walk trails in a tropical jungle with waterfalls and a lagoon. Condors and eagles soar in the skies. Geodesic structures suspended from the rocks can be explored. Climbing to the highest point unlocks a super power that allows you to discover hidden areas.
Going Forward: Sky Mesa will remain for me a development platform for testing ideas in a naturalistic environment. I may add elements to the map over time as I think of new stuff and learn more.
