Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 257. Mzulft Finale
8At last we reach the end of Mzulft in this video by exploring the Mzulft Aedrome. Interesting fact, "aedrome" is not a real word, and I have no idea what the developers were getting at in coming up with it.
Most of the area is more of the same - Falmer and Charuses, and looting a whole lot of heavy Dwemer metal pieces. At last we reach the final boss, and I hope you appreciate the irony in how I scan behind the door with Detect Life, completely forgetting that it doesn't show Dwemer automatons, only to then be surprised by a Dwarven Centurion Master when I open the door. Still, the Impact perk continues to do the heavy lifting for this part of the playthrough, and he goes down without issue.
From there we're on to the final part - solving the focusing puzzle. It takes me a bit to remember how to do it, since it's been a hot minute since I've last done this quest, so there's a bit of trial and error before I get the hang of it. You may also notice that there's a rare video splice during this part. While I was playing and recording, another window had the audacity to open up and steal focus from Skyrim, kicking me back out to Windows and automatically ending my recording. It's one of the worst parts of Windows - windows stealing focus should *never* be allowed to happen, period. I didn't want to lose 30 minutes of progress though, so I made the decision to go back and start a new recording and splice the two together. I think by now I've earned enough cred with this playthrough for you to trust I'm not monkeying around with the difficulty and being dishonest with the "100% Legendary" part of this series.
It was also at this part of the video I rolled my eyes so hard I strained them. As I said, it's been a decent while since I last did the College of Winterhold questline, and I forgot that we weren't even here to retrieve the Staff of Magnus - we're just here to find out *where it is*. It's one thing to have a plot driven by a "go find this MacGuffin" trope, it's another thing to blatantly pad out the plot before you're even allowed to retrieve it. It's just an excuse to get us out of the College so that when we return the next part of the plot railroad can commence. This is evidenced by the fact that our quest objective is now to "report back to Savos Aren", even though there's no real need to - logically we could just head to Labyrinthian to retrieve the staff.
In any case the end is in sight finally for the weakest of the four guild questlines in the game. Hang on with me and we'll get through this and move on to greener pastures.
