Smok Alien Update Issue Firmware VB 1.0.2 + updates on how to fix bricked devices (read description)
246SMOK has now released the VB firmware but it doesn't come with ISP 2.0. I have put links to both below. If you have bricked your device you will have to delete the firmware on your device before you install the correct firmware.

I know the video doesn't show how to update the VB firmware or how to fix bricked devices but I originally made this video to show FastTech my inability to update the firmware and since I noticed this is a topic for a lot of people and there being very little information around about this, I decided to leave the video on here as a source of information to hopefully eventually help people to update and/or fix bricked devices.
My new confirmed genuine Smok Alien won't update via either method as described on their website using the Ver. 1.44 update tool downloaded from their website. This is the video of the no batteries/hold the fire button method. The best I got out of it was a screen of static but still no connection to the computer even though you can clearly hear the computer recognize a USB device.
There are 2 versions, A and B. If you have the 1.X.X firmware, it is a version A. If you have the VB X.X.X, then it is a version B. Version B will only work with Nuvoton 2.0 because it has a different chipset. VB 1.0.2 is the latest firmware as far as I can tell and will not be able to be updated till SMOK releases newer firmware. While I know this has been frustrating for a lot of people with the VB firmware not knowing if they have a genuine product or not, I feel confident in saying that there is nothing to worry about. It would have been nice of SMOK to have information about this before they made this change, but at least now we know.
