To get 105%, as opposed to the regular 103%, you need input LRR LRR LRLR at the file select screen before selecting the file and starting a new game. Then input the cheat code shown at 1:17 (TUFST). This will remove all star barrels (checkpoints) and most DK barrels, and enable you to get 105%. Otherwise you’ll be stuck with 103%, even if you fulfil all other requirements. It’s this game’s hard mode.

If you’re playing for the first time I recommend you do the any% playthrough first, then a 103% run, then 105%. That’s how I did it when I first played this and I found it to be the best way to experience the game.

I committed to find as many secrets, bear coins, blue life balloons etc. as I know about, still nobody’s perfect and there’s bound to be a few things I missed. Leave a comment if you know about anything not shown in the video.
