A quick and dirty playthrough of the game on normal difficulty. Captured by filming an actual CRT-screen with the game running on a PC-Engine Duo R.
Wanted to do a longer capture-check before doing something more interesting than just another playthrough after this and this is how it turned out.

Having played the game properly for first time a few days ago, even though it has a stellar reputation, I was still a bit surprised how much I actually like it. Final Soldier and Super Star Soldier are nice old-school shooters but they weren’t exactly my cup of tea when I tested them out and I expected something similar for Soldier Blade. Fortunately I was wrong and immediately enjoyed it a lot when playing through it. And that is not just for its well-known and without a doubt ace presentation. Level design, bosses, weapons – all of it feels really well thought out and nicely condensed with the game in general being lots of fun, without it being too memorization-heavy or stages being too dragged out. The probably only gripe I have with it is the speed of the ship, which even on low is a bit too fast in my opinion. It makes parts were you need to do smaller adjustments a lot harder than they would be with a lower speed setting. One good example is the mid-boss battle with the laser mirrors near the end. Still a great game besides that and, as has been stated so often over the years, really one of the most impressive HuCard games that were developed back then.
