Sonic the Hedgehog (GG) - Labyrinth 2 speedrun in 0:58
16A slow level with mildly interesting movement that's fairly limited by having to rely on obstacle cycles and random water bubbles. I can do the beginning section up to a whole second faster, but I am limited by the spear cycle at 18 seconds ingame. For the remainder of the underwater section, you have to hope you get good bubble spawns. I largely don't hate this level, I just wish the cycles didn't dictate so much of it. What I do hate though is the zig-zag vertical climbing platforming at the end of the level. Absolute pain to optimize, especially with the lag and having to switch between water physics and normal physics.
As with the first Labyrinth level, I am playing on Sonic Origins Plus, which uses the later version of this game, which does not have access to a vertical zip used to skip the elevator. In return, I have a slightly higher underwater jump height, which allows me to make the jump at 45 seconds ingame. This does not give me much of an advantage though, as the alternative strat is a damage boost from the projectile from the right, which is roughly equally as fast from what I can tell. As with act 1, maybe I'll come back at a later time and try to get a time with the zip going on an emulator. I am very happy with this run though, so I am not in a rush to want to improve it.
