Since a heavy part of this mission is governed by a timer, the only determinant of speed is what happens after the timer; you have to destroy all enemy units asap. If you're on easy mode this is easily done by sending all your troops to the northeastern most corner where they demolish all incoming Nod units that spawn out of nowhere. On hard mode it's best to form a human barricade at a wall entrance instead to prevent those pesky buggies and bikes from entering.
