Speedy Gonzales in Cheese Cat-astrophe on Genesis Does!
6In the last year a lot of classic Looney Tunes characters like Pepe LePew, Speedy Gonzales and Slowpoke Rodriguez have gotten closer scrutiny as to how offensive they might be to modern sensibilities. I'm not opposed to this at all. I think times change and attitudes change, and while I wouldn't argue for airing cartoons that play fast and loose with racist stereotypes, I also wouldn't argue for deleting them altogether and pretending that they don't exist. It's hard to say where Speedy Gonzales falls on the spectrum, because I viewed him as a hero rather than a caricature, but I find the mistakes they made with the game design of Speedy Gonzales in Cheese Cat-astrophe more offensive than the character himself. There are seeds of a good game here, but inconsistent running speed, hit boxes, and enemy rules limit the potential this title could have had.
