Sheppard's team stumbles upon a technologically advanced society, the Olesians, who purposely leave their criminals in a penal colony near the Stargate, so that the Wraith may discover them first. But after the prisoners shoot the jumper down, the team discovers that this punishment is too effective and the crime rate had plummeted, forcing the Olesians to start sentencing petty criminals and innocent people to the Wraith.
