00:04 BUDDY HIELD: Everybody is unselfish. They play basketball the right way, next pass, best shot available. Anybody can shoot it. Everybody's heart is in the right place. Offense and defense playing together. Starting off from leaders like Steph and Dray. And everybody just following them. And then Steve, of course, putting everything together. But just them setting the tone. And just us being unselfish, sacrificing.

00:39 First of all, you gotta start off liking each other. I feel like, I think, everybody has the right personalities. Everybody comes in and there's no egos. And plus, me coming here, there's a standard that these guys go by in this championship. They've done the work, so no matter what you say is wrong, because whatever they say is right. And you just go by that. And you learn and you listen and you try to observe everything. And you just try to figure out how to imply myself into their uniqueness and how it can be effective.

01:19 It's the first game — first game back. You see the first one is, like, fxck, let's get the — sorry! Get the jitters — get the jitters out, try to make one. But also let the game come to you and play in the flow of the offense. Tonight was my night, next night can be JK. Steph is always Steph. He's world-class, but just take advantage of my opportunities and running the floor and try to keep the floor open for Steph and other guys to be special.
01:50 Have you always felt this kind of freedom on the court, to just play the game you want to play and be a part of a group that is in the same place you are mentally?
02:00 Yeah this, to be honest with you, like, I don't want to bring it up, but I think the last time I was free like this was in Oklahoma. I had guys that were always playing for me and passing the ball and trying to get me open. So, I mean, it was fun. It's been a fun preseason. And we just gotta keep building and stay humble. And keep learning from these guys.
02:23 What kind of cumulative effect do you feel like the depth and the pace that you guys played at had? I mean, it looked like Portland started to wear down. Did you feel that? What kind of effect does playing that fast with 12 guys have?
02:33 I mean, we just got a wave of guys just coming in. Just, you have your starting group that's very elite. And you got Melt, me, Tune — I mean, Loon, Lindy, Moody. You got so much guys that can fill in the roles for other guys. And they play basketball the right way. And I think Steve did a great job just preaching unselfishness and sacrifice because one through twelve can play. And even the guys on the two-way, they're knowing the system all summer. And they probably run it better than us because they wait to move the ball. And ball movement kills. So like, I think hats off to Steve and his coaching staff just applying the right things and preaching the right things and us buying in and sacrificing.
