Streets of Rage 2 (aka Bare Knuckle II in Japan) is a side-scrolling beat em' up that was developed and published by Sega in 1992. A sequel to Streets of Rage, we will see 2 returning fighters: Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding - however we will see new fighters enter the game. Streets of Rage 2 although developed by Sega would have assistance from Ancient, Shout! Designworks, MNM Software, and HIC. Street of Rage 2 was critically acclaimed and topped sales charts for months to come and is argued as one of the best entries of the franchise and best beat em' up for the Genesis.

One year has passed since the events of Streets of Rage. To celebrate the defeat of Mr. X and his henchmen, The Syndicate meet at their favorite spot in the city to remanence about the previous year. Axel and Blaze move out of the city, while Adam rejoins the police force. The next afternoon Blaze is informed that Adam has been kidnapped and Mr. X was behind it once again. Blaze and Axel team up and bring some friends to back into the city and save their friend and defeat Mr. X.

I was never big Sega kid growing up. Having grown up with Nintendo most my life, Sega was never on the radar. I had friends with the Genesis and that's when I would get my fill for Sega - so I'm not very familiar with the Sega library in general for any of the consoles. I always heard great things about the Streets of Rage franchise so I wanted to play them and see what the hype was about and I started with 2. Even though the controls do feel a bit clunky and it doesn't utilize the 6 button - graphically and OST this game still very much holds up. I'm not good at Beat Em' Ups so I typically steer clear of them, but this game gave me the appropriate amount of challenge and I really enjoyed the game. I would recommend this game to anyone wanting to dive into a Retro game, its nice on the eyes and fun to listen to.
