In the world of Invincible, the character of Bulletproof might be an also-ran, but he still makes one hell of a #supermananalogue !

Original Text: Back to a more traditional #SupermanAnalogue: Zandale Randolph, better known as "Bulletproof" from @RobertKirkman 's Invincible! He began as a callback to early development material for the book, having both the name and costume that was originally intended for the title character
For those who've only read the singles or omnibuses, Kirkman was always very open about his creative process in the trades and included sketches and explained where concepts came from, including often explaining things that were meant as inside jokes so the audience could join in
Eventually the unused be and design was folded into a separate character, Bulletproof who joined the resident superteam as another heavy hitter. He had roughly equivalent powers to Invincible, though a bit weaker, like Immortal or Captain Cosmos. Damn series had ALOT of Supermen!
Zandale eventually got fleshed out to have a seriously fucked up family, including an evil dead twin that he impersonated and an even worse relationship with his parents. He was a morally grey character struggling to do what was right, but often stumbling.
(I think) His powers worked by storing kinetic energy making him particularly durable to physical attacks but more vulnerable to energy. The disks on his suit (originally meant for soloar energy) were modified to store that energy for him. @InvincibleInck probably can correct me.
While Mark Grayson was sidelined (and frankly getting caught up in bigger stuff), Bulletproof was recruited by Atom Eve to fill the role of Invincible, including wearing the classic costume.
The two even worked together sometimes. Despite his many flaws, Mark was rarely that concerned about people stealing glory, so he was fine with this.
When things... Got more contentious with Robot... Bulletproof sided with Robot and remained his close ally until the end of the series. And...uh...that's all I'll say.
Zandale tried his best in a crowded world, but the series was often about figuring out what really was the right thing to do and balancing that with personal needs and frankly no one was perfect. He fit the role of flying brick and was a great, if smaller, part of the story!
