#SuperOldGameSaturday - Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (Sega Saturn) - Part 1
Originally Recorded/Aired on April 20th, 2024
We haven't played a Sega Saturn game recently on #SuperOldGameSaturday and it's been some time since Nocturne has led a game on the program, so we're filling both of those voids with a 3D collect-a-thon platformer that you tend to not see played on this console and one that Nocturne is controlling for us as a blind play. It's 1997's Croc: Legend of the Gobbos from publisher Fox Interactive and developer Argonaut Software, which tells the story of an orphaned crocodile who was taken in by cute creatures known as Gobbos, but when Baron Dante and the Dantinis kidnap Croc's surrogate family, it's up to Croc to find/rescue the Gobbos and defeat the Baron and his henchmen by making them, in the words of Nocturne, "eat tail". This game tends to be known for its PlayStation release, but it DID come out on Saturn, which is how Nocturne owns it and, as a change of pace, she's going through this game for her very first time on our show and showed a natural adjustment and skill for Part 1 of this play, while myself and the best chat on Twitch joined her and went into our thoughts on the game (most of which is also new for me watching), differences between the PlayStation and Saturn versions, the intriguing history of the game's making and developers, the surprisingly deep backstory of this adventure and much more. We'll keep coming back to this one each month as always until Nocturne finishes the game (and, in the Finale, backtracks to collect everything needed for 100%), but for our first part, we all had a great time experiencing the start of this cult 3D platformer in a place that you tend to not see it played and I once again thank Nocturne for playing this game for us. She'll be back on May 18th for Part 2, but until then, we hope you enjoy the start of Nocturne's Blind Run of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos on Sega Saturn (and if you like what you see, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag to see these streams live and join/help drive the conversations on what we play each week and also, to see the schedule for our next show, which will be this Friday, April 26th, at 7:30 PM EST)!
