Being under-leveled makes gear far less effective, and when you play with a lower tier weapon than the content you're on, it hits for less damage. Combining these two, you get weapons that hit like floppy fish and gear that may or may not protect you. If I had gotten hit outside of Bear form I likely would have died instantly due to the absurdly high damage, or the poison.

This recording starts about half-way through the fight. I had already killed the two petrify statues at the top, and had one close call.
