Ultimately, If I had to choose between JP and Western based on game balance alone, I think I still prefer the one we got. As nice as it is to see Shots actually useful, something about losing niches for pieces of armor, and the utter pain of trying to upgrade things felt awful. Also, I didn't mention it directly in the video, but this accidentally makes Gryphons insanely good as easy, replaceable units that need no upgrades.
