19This channel's purpose is to provide high-quality walkthroughs, playthroughs, or guides of any video game that I enjoy. The focus will always be the Sonic the Hedgehog series, but occasionally, other games will make an appearance. I record all content myself and as of 2020, exclusively output in 4K with certain videos being in HDR. I specialize in long-form or marathon content with various videos of several hours in length. I always provide timestamps to important bits, and provide transformative editing with the goal of producing professional-level footage and informative guides/tutorials of a variety of games to help viewers around the world make progress in the games on this channel. Hey fam, let's talk. I was demonetized again. For those that may not know, I was demonetized after six years of being a partner in December 2018. During the 30 days I had before I could re-apply, I deleted everything I possibly could that I thought tripped the "Duplicate Content" condition.
You aren't told which videos are the problem, so I went through the thousands of videos I've upload over the past nine years and deleted anything that might have been an issue. About 200+ were nuked so my video count went from almost 3.9K to 3.7K. I re-applied in January and got back into the Partner Program. I thought that was the end of that.
But here we are now, 50-ish days later with the same issue. I was demonetized for reused content and I have no idea why since the same exact content was okay for the Partner Program in January. Let's go over the facts:
1. I've uploaded 29 videos between the January 13th (the day I got back in) and March 5th (the day I lost it again).
2. None of them received copyright strikes. My account is in good standing and always has been.
3. Each video is just gameplay. Not cutscenes, not ripped from other channels, just high quality gameplay like I've done for the past nine years that I recorded myself.
My channel is as clean as they come. The only possible issue which shouldn't be one, but it's the only one at this point, is that I don't commentate. That wasn't a problem in January, so why it is one now? Also, there are tons, and I mean tons, of gameplay-only channels that are just fine. Am I not popular enough or is my content tripping whatever algorithm they're using? I don't know. You tell me.
Since I have no idea what I'm doing wrong besides not talking which shouldn't be a problem since we've addressed that in the above paragraph, I'm not going to fix or change the content on the channel since I have no idea what changes to make or what to delete.
Instead, I see this as a warning. Youtube is telling me that investing time into it is pointless. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, and I'm not expecting support to be of much service either. I will contact them through social media since I have nothing to lose, but I'm expecting that to be a waste of time.
So, here's what's going to happen. I know I already don't upload as much as I used to, but my output is going to become even worse, sorry. I don't see the point anymore. Youtube videos from me will become rare. It isn't worth the time. The channel will not be closed, but my output will be anemic as I turn my free time to more fulfilling things. You know, a hobby that doesn't confuse me like Youtube is doing right now.
