Tales of the Abyss - Final Boss: Van [Jade Solo/Unknown Mode/NIND]
Well, this is it.
The end of the run? Nooooo, but the final boss Van fuggGin Grants! He's basically every God General stacked in one, and takes way too long soloing.
His first form doesn't really pack too much, but sets the tone for the entire fight: deciding whether or not to head back and try to cast or attempt melee and take a chance at getting erased by Shining Blade. His physical and magical strength is utterly ridiculous, and he casts like any other boss in this game (insane priority).
The second...form... isn't really too much different, but Jebus he uses Celestial Elegy, a move which has the craziest hitbox inda WHURLD. I'm still not sure how to dodge it or survive it, but I assume if you don't get hit by the slash it works just like any ole Big Bang or 1HP hi-ougi. Since it's also one of the game's few hi-ougis that freeze you in place, there's little/no hope in dodging it.
I really have a feeling that AD Skills have something to do with....I mean I'm sure no one knows all of the AD Skills and effects off hand, I'm sure one of them has a hidden save-your-ass function or something, besides the crap like Resurrect and Angel's Tear. I've played through this game going on 6 or 7 times now and have experienced my fair share of wtf moments, and I know AD Skills gotta be more broken than they seem. Not to mention sometimes they just turn themselves back on for the A.I., it's pretty trippy.
Anyway, his final form is just....well it's more than half the video. That's saying something. More damage, HP, and DEFENSE + having to look out for Shining Dragon, AND having to dodge Judgment MULTIPLE TIMES (easy), AND still dealing with the most intense case of Load-casting in the game. Also some of his spells kept... like pulling me in or something when I try to cast with some random gravity effect like Black Hole throughout this fight (see: 5:19). Jade would really benefit from having Black Hole...or any dark spells for that matter. *shrug*
So there's the big bad Van, easily the most enduring fight of the run. Luckily it only took one take *p*. All i can say is Energy Blast is one of Jade's best spells hands down.
Anyone that makes it through the whole thing gets Verc points, which are redeemable for any request of any kind after the year 20011.
