Tempest 3000 - VM Labs NUON
7An old clip of the awesome Tempest 3000 for the VM Labs NUON. If there was one reason to get a NUON, this game was it. Created by the legendary Jeff Minter (YaK) this is a great update of the Atari classic. Many unique graphical techniques were created for T3k, as the NUON processor was quite flexible when it came to producing interesting and different graphics effects (see the video on ray tracing.) To understand what is going on, imagine Space Invaders and imagine they are coming down a tunnel towards you. That is Tempest. No storyline or incredibly complex character development. Just pure blasting goodness, something we could always use more of in the video game world. Unfortunately there is a small sound error in this video which causes the music to slow down a beat or two that I could not correct.
