While Terra is trying to follow Master Xehanort's teachings and embrace the Darkness, he is still holding on to a small portion of light. However, Xehanort is aware that even in the deepest darkness, a light shines within.

If Xehanort is to achieve the "balance" as had been proposed by his plan in the previous episode, he must extinguish that light.
