I have been working on this track since February of 2012. I am a huge fan of Mick Foley. I have read almost all his books and seen all his matches. I’m also a huge fan of Terry Funk. This is a promo he did for their classic “King of the Deathmatch” match in Japan. There is a great photo in Foley’s first book of him holding the trophy and he is covered in Blood, and what those two men did to each other is illegal in some countries.
The reason I chose this particular promo was one it’s one of my favorites. And there is also a kind of back story.
@therabidfrog is (was at the time) a very good friend of mine. I was loosing everything, and the cultivation of lack of respect for our friendship came at an apex. Words were exchanged and we really haven’t talked much since. That was in 2012.
When I was searching youtube for inspiration I came across this track. With tears in my eyes I decided that I was really going to put everything into my music. I started to work on this track. As the years have gone by, my equipment, and my skills have really improved. There were too many parallels between this promo and how I was feeling at the time.
I want to dedicate this track to Mr. Foley and Mr. Funk. I hope to one day meet you both. You inspire me to keep doing what I love and to always get back up, even when everyone and everything is betting against you. The respect I have for you both is unmeasurable.
I also need to dedicate this track to my friend Matthew. I love you brother. I know we don’t follow each other, or keep in touch. I don’t care. And I hope you “get this”. Because we’ve been through some tough times. and your opinions of me actually mean something and I value our friendship. I’d take a chair shot to the head or bump through a table for you, and this is about our friendship….
