Testing My Touch Shot Elite Gun MOD In Doom 3 BFG VR With The Oculus Rift + Touch
98After looking at all of the available options people are using for modding the Oculus Touch controllers to feel like a weapon I found an awesome solution. I really wanted to do one of these mods but also wanted to have the buttons directly on the gun and only use the Touch controllers for the motion tracking. While thinking about this I remembered seeing a few videos from the DK2 days where people were playing games like this using the Top Shot Elite Xbox 360 Wireless Gun Controller. This was when it hit me that by simply strapping my right Touch controller to it I would get what I wanted and it worked! So far Doom 3 BFG VR is the only thing I have tried it in but I feel like as long as the game supports both the Xbox Controller and Touch it should work in others as well. So for less than $30 this is a great solution for those wanting the tactile sensation of actually holding a weapon in a VR game and let me tell you It increases the Immersion a lot!
