
The chilly methodical combat of UNTO THE END (demo)
This was a really tough demo, in a good way. Much like Griefhelm, there is stanced combat here and that alone makes it feel more tactile and challenging. The environmental art is stunning. Only issue is much like with Griefhelm, the view can be obscured by bits of the environment in the foreground so I hope they become transparent when you’re behind them. There is one section where you get ambushed by enemies on both sides of you and I kept on dying. The spear throw is a one-hit kill so you dodge roll, but if you don’t shoulder charge the enemy, you can just jump into the enemy and get knocked down because I guess you’re much weaker. The combat is surprisingly mechanics-rich and with the minimalist presentation, makes it quite cinematic. I’m fully sold on this and can’t wait to play the final game.
