This is “a bout” to feed the hungry!
In a normal economy, Waste Not collects leftover food from restaurants across the Valley and delivers it to local families in Phoenix area shelters and transitional housing. With restaurants being closed and heavy demand on food bank resources, these families and shelters are on the ropes for meals.
Food Fight is a 1-2 punch against hunger. The Duce, 525 S. Central Ave., Phoenix’s community-centered restaurant, bar-entertainment venue, and boxing gym, unleashes a 1-2 punch against hunger. With a capacity of 1,000 meals per day, The Duce is bringing its furloughed workers back into the kitchen to cook up nutritious meals for families in need.
Waste Not is bringing its team of dedicated volunteer drivers back to its fleet of trucks and picking up prepared meals for delivery to hundreds of hungry families across the Valley.
The Phoenix Suns were among the first to join the fight donating $25,000 to fund the effort. Added to other donations, gifts from The Duce owners Steve and Andi Rosenstein, the effort gets underway with $45,000 to start. The goal is to raise $100,000 in donations. There is a Go Fund Me account for the Food Fight effort.
