The Evil Within (Xbox One) - Video Review - Is it GOOD? Should you BUY?
65The Survival Horror Genre of video games is rare to come across in a form of entertainment that has been taken over by "Hollywood Action" plots. The Evil Within makes it's debut in a great way but does have it's faults. This Evil Within Video Review covers three major categories in order to come up with a final score of the game. I walk you through providing a visual example of each of them.
Presentation - Bethesda introduces us to a diverse and details environment full of horrific scenery and scary noises. However the characters within the game have horribly scripted dialogue and make unnecessary decisions.
Creativity - Director Shinji Mikami makes his involvement well known by crafting this game's visually amazing level design and somehow sculpts a perfectly balanced gameplay experience. This adds to the controlled suspense of keeping you nervous but not overly frustrated.
Longevity - The end of the game consists of 17+ of gameplay and rewards you with a new weapon, game mode, and difficulty. However even the large number of collectables and upgrades that I failed to get in the first play through cant draw me back into playing a story with poorly written character development.
