55Hello and welcome to a brand new series and challenge for 2025.
The NES Top 40 at 40!
A celebration of one of the most iconic consoles of all time the Nintendo Entertainment System. In 2025 both myself and the NES celebrate our 40th anniversary and to celebrate over the course of the next 12 months I’m going to build my dream NES collection made up of my 40 most wanted games!
There are no rules for this collection, I’ll be visiting independent games stores as well as CEX and anywhere I can find NES games, and it’s just the 40 games we’re hunting for, I’ll also be hunting for any bonus hidden gems, forgotten classics or games recommended by you, the viewers!
This time we’re starting the hunt a mere few days after my 40th birthday at the most unlikely of places, ThE Nerd Base, a store famous for it toys, but which also sells video-games, and trust me we find a heavy hitter here!
Whilst in the area we also hit up Basildon CEX and find some cheap bangers and gear not, Basildon will feature on an upcoming episode of the Crazy World of CEX, my adventure to try and visit every CEX store in the entire world! Check it out here!

Finally we’re at the final gaming market of 2024, right here in the fine city of Norwich at the Video-game Retro Market where we are absolutely spoiled for choice with a massive selection of NES bangers!
But this series is not just about collecting games, it’s also about playing games and I’ll be playing every game in this collection, some of which for the first time ever in 40 years at the end of each episode so stick around for some retro gaming!
