The Penguin Episode 5 Ending Explained Gotham Creeps Into Utter Chaos As A Major Power Struggle Brew
In this week's episode of The Penguin, the focus shifts back to Oz after last week's deep dive into Sofia Falcone's time in Arkham. If you need a quick recap, Episode 4 took us a decade into the past, showing a surprisingly composed Sofia Falcone as she established charities and donated to causes supporting women with mental health struggles. However, Sofia is still haunted by the memory of finding her mother's body, which her father, Carmine Falcone, claims was the result of suicide. But Sofia's moral compass faces a serious test when Summer Gleeson, a reporter from the Gotham Gazette, tells her that every other woman who has been close to her father has also turned up dead with the cause being suicide. When Sofia realizes that her father might be a serial killer, targeting women, she tries to gather proof. But Oz catches wind of her plans and quickly rats her out to Carmine, setting off a chain of events that leaves Sofia in a dangerous position. Carmine Falcone turns the tables on Sofia, accusing her of the murders while the media dubs her as The Hangman, and despite her efforts to prove her innocence, Sofia ends up being sent to Arkham Asylum for 10 long years, which ultimately shaped her into the ruthless mob boss that we have met in the earlier episodes. Episode ended with Sofia taking her revenge by wiping out almost the entire Falcone family using carbon monoxide poisoning. However, she spared Johnny Viti, although it’s clear his survival may only be temporary. Now, Episode 5 has fully embraced the chaos as Oz literally burns people alive which inevitably leads to the butterfly effect of unlikely alliances being formed. So, without wasting another moment, let’s discuss what went down in The Penguin’s “Homecoming”!
