This is essentially, Yuugiku Kanbe’s second theme that would play during the extra stage boss fight. I kept the eclipse theming from a video I uploaded before the Great North American Eclipse in April of this year. Yuugiku is a representation of the Yao people - she is Chinese by ethnicity and is not native to Gensokyo. They grow their locks continuously and don’t cut it until they reach adulthood, which Yuugiku did not do and instead moved to Gensokyo. I went unique in terms of instruments and used a yangqin, which is a dulcimer-like instrument from China. Sadly, the SD-90 does not have an erhu instrument.
I’ve continuously held the concept of Touhou Chouhatsuyou ~ Burgeoning Tresses of Longevity in my head throughout the development of my current game. But as the spring and summer of 2024 flew by, the concept started falling out of Hosokawa’s favor because she may think that creating a Touhou Project fangame revolving around hair would be lame. I will explain more about it in my next State of the Prophet Driller video in October. Would you want a Touhou Project fangame with this sort of incident? Let me know in the comments.
