Hello friends, it's CS News Live! In today’s video, we’ve got hot topics like Valve's new rules impacting esports, whether Liquid should kick YEKINDAR, and B1t’s secret pre-game ritual. Plus, tons of juicy updates from the world of CS2. Let’s jump right in.
Starting with some quick stats: after the IEM Cologne group stage, it seems that all maps except Nuke favor starting on the T side. Inferno and Vertigo have the highest T-side win rates, 61.3% and 61.9% respectively. This could be because CS2's maps are more T-oriented or because teams are focusing more on their T-side practice. Another reason could be the new smoke mechanics, making it harder to control specific areas on the map. Thanks to Litify for these stats.
Now, onto more tournaments. The full team list for the BLAST Fall Showdown is out, featuring Cloud9, FaZe Clan, Heroic, and others. Only two teams will qualify for the main event, and my money’s on Complexity and FaZe. Besides qualifying, teams will also compete for prize money, and sticker sales are a big income source. Players can earn between $150,000 to $250,000 from major stickers, but Valve recently ended the sale of Copenhagen Major stickers after 111 days.
In other news, data miners found new code in CS2 related to the controversial SnapTap feature. The "Suspicious Shot" code suggests that Valve might soon ban the feature. Players who recommended SnapTap are speculating that it could lead to penalties. Valve also fixed the legal wallhack bug with the bomb in a recent update, which had been around for two weeks.
However, some new Valve rules are making things tough for esports. Jason Lake, GM of Complexity, criticized Valve’s rule of notifying teams about tournament participation only eight weeks in advance. This short notice makes it difficult for teams from countries like Russia, the USA, and China to secure visas in time. Lake suggested extending the notification period to 12 or 16 weeks to help teams prepare.
In another controversy, Hayley, a streamer, faced harassment during a game because she was a girl. The player intentionally ruined the match, leading to a debate on why platforms like Faceit don’t ban such toxic players. JL responded by calling these players “Neanderthals” and suggested that a special report system should be implemented to monitor such behavior.
On a lighter note, Na’Vi’s coach B1ad3 shared a funny story about B1t’s pre-game ritual: he always wants to eat at McDonald’s before a match. This new ritual might be the key to his success, replacing his old habit of keeping a toy goat on his desk during games. Interestingly, Polish coach NEO shared a story about a teammate who got so mad after missing his McDonald’s meal that it cost them a match.
Moving on to Team Spirit, analyst Kassad expressed doubts about their performance, saying they won’t reach the top 4 at the Shanghai Major. He criticized Sh1ro as being too dull and suggested that Spirit is underperforming. However, Thorin disagreed, arguing that Spirit has a solid map pool and two of the best players in the world.
Kassad also mentioned that Liquid should consider replacing YEKINDAR, as his performance has declined. He suggested bringing in nertz from Heroic, but Thorin believes YEKINDAR just needs to adjust his gameplay. The discussion also touched on karrigan’s dedication; he canceled his wedding anniversary to grind for 12 hours before Cologne, showing his commitment to the game.
Lastly, we discussed NiKo’s outstanding performance this season. Analysts agree that he’s the best rifler in the world right now, and his stats have improved by 10% after roster changes. G2 has a real shot at winning both the Major and Cologne if they continue to unlock NiKo’s full potential.
