Gaming Pastime reviews Thunder Force III for the Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn, Thunder Force AC for the Sega Saturn, and Thunder Spirits for the Super Nintendo. The Saturn versions of Thunder Force III and Thunder Force AC are part of Thunder Force: Gold Pack 1 and Thunder Force: Gold Pack 2 respectively.

Developed by Technosoft and published by Sega, Thunder Force III was originally released for the Sega Genesis in 1990. It was eventually ported to arcade as Thunder Force AC with some noticeable differences. Thunder Force AC was ported to the Super Nintendo as Thunder Spirits. Often found on lists of must-play shoot 'em up games, Thunder Force III and its iterations are both accessible and challenging at the same time, making this one of the most enjoyable games in the shoot 'em up genre.
