TMNT (NES) - Underwater (on Accordion)
Title: Underwater (Save the Dam!)
Game: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
Composer: Jun Funahashi
Pixel Mixers VGM Cover Contest Entry, May 2018: "Underwater Levels"
This tune is from what is arguably one of the most infamous water levels in gaming history, and it also happens to be super catchy to listen to (when you're not being zapped by electric kelp). This was a lot of fun to learn, but figuring out how to play the 3/4 melody over the 6/8 rhythm was quite challenging (though not as challenging as this level).
For those not familiar with this game, you play as one turtle at a time, and each count as a life. Once you lose one, that's it. And each turtle has different weapons with different hitboxes. I mention this because this level is typically the point in the game when the player loses Raph and/or Mikey (both of which have inferior weapons for above-ground combat, making them the perfect sacrificial lambs for getting through this sadistic stage).
