:::::::::::::::FAQ - READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING IT MIGHT FIX YOUR PROBLEM:::::::::::::::::::
Q: I don't have an autoexec.cfg?
A: Go into notepad, save the file as autoexec.cfg, put this new file in your /tf/cfg folder.
Q: I don't have an autoexec.cfg and I'm on a Mac?
A: skw38654 has a fix (thank you)-
"Go to your cfg folder. Make a copy of config.cfg. Open copy with a text editor. I highly recommend text wrangler DO NOT use the inbuilt text edit, as it is a piece of shit that does absolutely nothing. Then erase everything in it, and rename it autoexec.cfg, then proceed to fill it up. Put the shit in there, then save the file."
MAKE SURE THAT THE FOLDER "VGUI" IS IN ALL CAPS, NOT "vgui"!
Also make sure that all the folders have the exact same names as the ones I used, capital/lower case letters and all.
Q: CAN I BE VAC BANNED OH WISE AND HANDSOME WOOLEN?
A: No. This is no more than part of a custom hud. You're thinking of openplugin which changed a lot more than viewmodels; it gave you a wider fov, the ability to see people when you shouldn't have and other such naughty things. Valve made the mod bannable because of this.
Q: Darkened screen while hiding viewmodels?
A: https://redd.it/387sdt
Q: Black and purple textures?
A: Missing textures. Either you've not set up the folders correctly, you've renamed the files or you haven't added them at all
Q: White texture covering screen?
A: USE DIRECTX 90, 95 or 98!!
Q: How do I make it toggle-able? (On for some classes / off for the others?)
A: From Eekay in the tf.tv thread -
"Just a quick note: You can "toggle" these viewmodels between transparent and opaque by using your HUD's minmode.
In the "hudlayout" section of the original post, add a new line under "visible" that is called "visible_minmode" - and then change the 1 to a 0.
In game, if you type cl_hud_minmode 0 in console, your viewmodels should be back to normal.
This means that if you want transparent viewmodels for specific classes, simply put "cl_hud_minmode 1" in that class config, and 0 anywhere else."
NOTE - Make sure you know what hud minmode is before you use it. It may make some parts of your hud tiny.
Q: I don't use a custom hud?
A: Please use one, if you like the stock hud's look just get an enhanced hud. They look just like the stock but give more info and have the hud files you can edit.
Q: I can't find my hud folder but I DO use a hud?
A: It could be called anything really, just look around inside your /custom folder for it. Rarely will your hud be stored anywhere else, but someone said theirs was in a /hl2 folder or something? Your hud's website/ steamgroup /owner should probably say where it is stored, but it really really should be in /custom.
Q: I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT WHY WON'T IT WORK?
A: Your hud might already have it installed, it won't work if it is in there twice. Mess around with the placement of the hudlayout.res code or the } bracket and it'll probably work eventually. Remember that there HAS to be the last } at the end of hudlayout.res, below your transparent viewmodels, as it designates what code is in your hudlayout.
Alternately, you might have a graphics config which messes around with the HDR settings - if it does, try removing those lines of code.
Q: E.V.E HUD is broken?
A: Kai Peters found a fix -
"Normally you would put the block behind the last } of the script.
But you have to put it inside it, mine is directly after the first {.

::::::::::::::HOW TO::::::::::::::
Step 1:
- Download the file from the teamfortress.tv thread
Step 2:
- Go to your custom folder (steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom)
- Make the following folders in this order, lowercase letters only
1: (anything)
2: materials
3: VGUI
4: replay
5: thumbnails
- Place the 2 files we downloaded in step 1 into "thumbnails".
Step 3:
- Go to your HUDs /scripts/ folder
- Open hudlayout.res (It's a text file, so you can just use notepad. I use notepad++ (found here http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ )
- Scroll to the bottom and paste in the contents of "2. HudLayout" from the teamfortress.tv thread, before the last bracket (may vary between HUDs, but it really shouldn't.)
Step 4:
- Go to your /tf/cfg folder
- Open autoexec.cfg (again, it is a text file, open with notepad or notepad++)
- Paste in "3. Config Settings" from the teamfortress.tv therad
