Can't you wait to get your hands on a Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green Warp Randomizer? Me neither. So, I coded my own one... ON STEROIDS. With an interactive map, improved note keeping features compared to your average spreadsheet, manual warp customization and a way to save your notes as well as support for German, English, French, Italian and Spanish ROM files (sorry, Japan, but your versions are a tiny bit more complicated) for both reading and writing warps. This tool was created in order to keep track of as well as solve warp randomizations of Pointcrow's Universal Warp Randomizer, but now it has become a warp randomizer (and warp customizer) on its own.
Say hello to TRASLA, the
Teleport
Randomizer
And
Solution
Lookup
Application,
which is the first tool to randomize Gen I remakes. It is also the first warp randomizer that supports multiple ROM languages. The prototype run shown here was to test whether warps lead where they should lead and whether all fixes done to the game work correctly (not all of them did, though, but this was fixed in the initial release).
I cannot guarantee that the randomizations are free of soft locks or impossible to beat gym leader orders, even though I carefully inspected all warps before making decisions on how to handle them in the randomizer, but at least the event of the latter happening should be highly unlikely. As with PCrow's Universal Warp Randomizer, please make sure you get an Abra or Trasla as early as possible to teleport out of softlocks and use savestates for good measure. All Celadon City buildings that are needed to get an Abra via the Rocket Game Corner (including the one that gets you the Coin Case) are not being altered by the randomizer code as of now.
Since TRASLA does not use a seed system for various reasons there is no proper way to report bugs as of now. If you happen to stumble upon one, please still let me know in the comments with a hopefully detailed discription of the issue. Depending on the warps in question a closer look might give me enough information to fix things.
As of now TRASLAs warp randomization feature is only available for Fire Red and Leaf Green, with Pokémon Emerald soon to follow. I'm not planning on adding more generations any time soon. Especially DS Pokémon games are a pain to randomize. Shoutouts to turtleisaac for that realization and all the interesting insights into ROM modding in general.
While Emerald randomization is on its way, there is a workaround to apply your Emerald randomizations created by PCrow's UWR to a German, French, Italian or Spanish ROM file in case you prefer one of those languages.
1) Go into the Emerald portion of TRASLA
2) Load the randomized US ROM file of Pokémon Emerald you got from PCrow's randomizer.
3) Save the loaded mapping to a clean ROM file of the language version you want the warps to be applied to.
4) Have fun with your translated randomization.
